Are my program fees tax deductable? Yes we issue Charitable Donation receipts in February of
each year for program fees received for the prior year.

What about tax deductions for my program fees? Each program fee-paying member may be eligible for an income tax rebate. The treasurer, using a government-determined formula, determines the instructional cost per child. Only fees above this instructional cost are eligible for tax deductions as charitable donations. Tax receipts, if any fees qualify, are issued to parents during the tax season.
Why do I have to become a member of the Fort McMurray Christian School Society to send my children to the school? The Fort McMurray Christian School Society operates as a society and has a number of bylaws and regulations. These bylaws and regulations allow parents to have a say in how the school operates, and in how the school's vision is worked out. Parents must become members of the Society in order to be guaranteed a voice in the school's operation.
Where do the program fees go?Program fees are used for a variety of things.  Firstly, only instructional grants are available to FMCS as an alternative program of Fort McMurray Public School District. Capital or infrastructure grants are not available to FMCS. FMCS continues to be responsible to supply space or buildings for their students, and for all expenses related to the Christain aspect of our program. Secondly, the Society has decided that they wish to limit the number of students in each classroom so that each student receives more of the teacher’s attention. This is an instructional cost we have chosen for our students. Thirdly, to maintain a Christian vision of education, specific professional development and resources are required. FMCS believes this is a necessary financial expenditure.
How is this school different from the Public or Catholic schools? In many schools, the religious curriculum is an "add-on" to the secular curriculum. In our school, the Christian perspective can be found in every classroom, and throughout our curriculum.
We strive to create an enviroment based on Christian values. We think that is important, don't you?
What if I want to send my children but can't afford the program fees?If you are unable to meet your finalncial obligations but would like to send your child / children anyway, you may be eligible for tuition relief. Contact the principal for more information.
